Specialist engineering services provider Ipsum has expanded its presence in the north-east region of England, UK, with the acquisition of Matrix Power.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Established in 1997, Matrix Power provides a range of electrical power system services to its clients across the UK and globally.
Matrix Power’s clients reportedly include some of the UK’s major blue-chip companies.
The acquisition of Matrix Power and its in-house workforce will build on Ipsum’s current capabilities in high-voltage electrical power systems, including design, equipment installation, cable installation and jointing, commissioning, preventative maintenance, and emergency callouts.
Matrix also brings specialist expertise in the design, installation, and commissioning of DC and light rail traction power systems.
Ipsum CEO Andrew Cowan said: “We’re delighted to announce the acquisition of Matrix Power, another positive step in the growth of our Power division. It’s an exciting period at Ipsum and in the utilities sector generally.
“The addition of Matrix Power’s expertise will allow us to expand our existing footprint in the north-east and broaden our availability across the north of England and Scotland. We look forward to bringing Matrix Power into the Ipsum fold.”
Ipsum provides engineering services in the power, water, infrastructure, and telecom sectors, working in collaboration with customers across regulated and nonregulated environments.
In August 2024, Ipsum acquired British electrical installation and maintenance contractor Site Energy, together with its associated training business SES Training Solutions.
The deal marked the seventh acquisition in Ipsum’s Power segment and ninth overall.
