Skanska, a Swedish construction company, has recently secured contracts for two projects, one in the US and the other in Norway.
In the US, Skanska has signed a $55m contract with Sutter Health, a non-profit healthcare system in California.
The project will convert an existing 60,000ft² office building in Pleasanton into a 20,000ft² ambulatory surgery centre and a 40,000ft² speciality clinic space.
This development will address outpatient care services in Northern California’s Tri-Valley region.
The facility will feature four operating rooms, three procedure rooms, and a full sterile processing department, catering to various medical programmes.
Construction is set to commence in May 2025 and be completed by the third quarter (Q3) of 2026.
Moreover, Skanska secured a contract to build a new school in Vesterøya, south of Oslo, Norway, via the Municipality of Sandefjord.
The Nkr409m ($37.5m) project involves creating a 9,400m² school campus, which includes a new school building and a multipurpose sports hall.
Construction will start this month, with a targeted completion of July 2026.
The project seeks to reduce emissions by 40% compared with reference projects and will feature energy-positive buildings, mainly constructed with cross-laminated timber.
Both these contracts will be included in Skanska’s order bookings for Q1 2025.
Last month, Skanska entered into an agreement with the Västra Götaland region for the renovation and expansion of the Eastern Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden.
