Nordic construction company Peab has secured a turnkey contract worth Skr339m ($31.8m) from Region Skåne to build a bus depot in Lockarp in Malmö, Sweden.

Planned to be constructed in the southern part of Malmö, south of the E6 in Lockarp, the bus depot will feature a main building with offices and personnel rooms.

The facility will also include a workshop and bus wash along with connected side parking as well as a receiving station.

The gross area of the buildings will be about 9,000m² and the property is 71,000m².

Work is due to commence in April 2025 and is anticipated to be finished in February 2027.

Peab region manager Olle Olsson said: “We’re very proud to have been entrusted by Region Skåne with this project and to be able to contribute to mass transit in the region.”

Peab employs approximately 13,000 people across the Nordics.

Last month, Peab was commissioned by Gothenburg’s City Property Administration to modify Lunden School.

Lunden School, located in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, will undergo extensive changes in a total of eight main sections.

Under the contract, Peab will construct a new school building for grades 4-6, including a new cafeteria, a new library, and a commercial kitchen.

In November 2024, Peab secured a Skr123m contract to construct a new nursing home in Grums, Värmland County, Sweden, with the customer being Stiftelsen Grums kommuns hyresbostäder.

The project entails the creation of a new nursing home adjacent to the area’s existing retirement home, including a connecting building.
