SRV has partnered with the City of Helsinki to launch a Maunula housing project in Oulunkylä, Helsinki, Finland.

The contract is valued at approximately €18.8m ($19.3m).

The development, designed to provide 106 homes, will comprise a five-storey sheltered housing block alongside two four-storey buildings for older residents.

The sheltered housing black will offer 51 rental apartments with communal spaces, a gym, a restaurant, and retail premises on the ground floor.

Adjacent to this, the two housing blocks for older residents will incorporate 55 rental apartments with sizes ranging from 35m² to 56.5m².

These buildings will be located near the Pirjontie light rail stop, enhancing accessibility for residents.

All awarded housing units under the contract will adhere to the Rakennustieto three-star environmental classification via minimising life cycle costs and incorporating renewable energy sources.

Specifically, the project will include geothermal underfloor heating and solar panels to improve energy efficiency.

The Maunula development is set to begin in late 2025 and is anticipated to be completed by late 2027.

SRV will oversee the technical design and construction of the project, for which the client has provided preliminary master drawing plans.

City of Helsinki housing production service new construction unit manager Merja Rukko said: “For the Maunula sheltered housing has been planned communal living which is between regular housing and enhanced service housing.

“Senior housing project, on the other hand, brings the expected addition to the supply of apartments aimed at the elderly in Helsinki. We are delighted that we can now build these projects with our proven partner.”

Last month, SRV entered into an agreement with Projekti GH to develop the Garden Helsinki project.
