Tata-owned Agratas is seeking a supplier to construct a new £60m ($74m) ring road, which will serve as a key access route to a £4bn battery cell manufacturing facility being developed near Bridgwater in Somerset, UK.
The company has issued a prior information notice for the job, which reads: “This [job] will include construction of roundabouts to provide access, culverts and foundations, surface water drainage systems inclusive of a master rhyne, street furniture, signage, lighting and landscaping. The groundworks will consist of preloading and band drains to achieve early settlement.”
The formal contract notice for the ring road is expected to be published on 25 February 2025.
Sir Robert McAlpine, a family-owned building and infrastructure company, was appointed by Agratas in July 2024 as the official delivery partner for Building One of the aforementioned battery cell manufacturing facility.
The gigafactory is on track to become operational by 2026.
Kelston Sparkes, a domestic earthworks specialist, has been engaged in groundwork on the site for nearly a year.
