Scandinavian contractor Veidekke has been awarded a contract by property developer Base Bolig and BORI BBL, a housing construction and management company, to construct the initial phase of the Eikeparken housing project in Stavanger, Norway.

This design-and-build contract is valued at Nkr190m ($16.9m), excluding VAT.

Veidekke Bygg Rogaland district manager Bendik Aarstad said: “Base Bolig and BORI BBL have selected us for an interesting construction commission and we appreciate the confidence shown in us.

“With an excellent location next to the bus route at Kristianlyst, we have great faith in Eikeparken, which is a good fit for our portfolio. We have extensive experience with similar projects, and are looking forward to continuing our focus on building housing in blocks.”

The Eikeparken project is located at Kristianlyst, offering proximity to educational institutions and sports facilities.

The development will include two buildings, one six storeys and the other eight storeys high, offering a total of 66 apartments, with units varying in size from 42m² to 128m².

The site will be heated via a district heating system.

Construction materials chosen for the buildings’ facades include wood and aluminium.

The Eikeparken development also includes plans for a shared underground parking facility, event spaces, guest bedsits, and outdoor areas for community use.

Demolition work on the site’s former Fjelltun Bible School is scheduled to begin this month, with the entire housing project expected to reach completion in the first quarter (Q1) of 2027.

This contract has been included in Veidekke’s order book for Q1 2025.

Base Bolig developer Rune Bertelsen said: “We are pleased that the project at Eikeparken is going ahead. We have been planning for this since 2019 and are looking forward to seeing activity at the site.

“Fortunately, after a somewhat slow period in the market, it has picked up in recent weeks and we have sold several homes. With Veidekke on board, we are certain that this will be an excellent project that we expect to be ready for occupation in two years.”

Earlier this month, Veidekke was chosen by developer Moro for the Haslevangen project, another residential development within the Hasle area of Oslo, Norway.
