Bethanie Housing has been selected as the preferred contractor by the Western Australian (WA) Government to develop and operate a new 90-unit social housing project for older residents in Mount Lawley.
The state’s Department of Communities and Bethanie Housing have signed an early works agreement to progress the project’s design and ensure it meets the required standards.
The proposed three-storey housing project will be situated on an 11,000m² site at the corner of East Parade and Guildford Road, and will offer easy access to the local central business district and facilities.
The units will be constructed according to the Silver Livable Homes standard, and upon completion, Bethanie Housing will manage tenancy, maintenance, and placemaking services at the site.
A development application is expected to be formally submitted in early 2025.
WA’s planning and housing minister John Carey said: “This well-located site in Mount Lawley will offer and create an accessible and affordable housing project, constructed and operated by preferred proponent, Bethanie Housing Limited.
