Persimmon and Barratt Homes Bristol have established a joint venture (JV) to deliver up to 2,500 new homes in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, UK.
This collaboration is a move towards addressing local housing needs.
The JV has seen Barratt Homes Bristol acquire half of the land necessary for the project, complementing Persimmon’s ongoing efforts with Wiltshire Council to secure outline planning permission.
Planning permission is expected early next year, and the 177 hectare (ha) urban extension will feature homes designed to be both quality-driven and energy-efficient.
Full planning consents will be pursued for the various phases of the development.
The project includes a multi-million-pound investment in local services, enhancing education, health, transport, and recycling facilities.

By GlobalDataAdditionally, 68ha of public open space will be created, offering green spaces, play areas, sports pitches, and allotments.
The development’s design prioritises biodiversity, with plans to retain key habitat features, introduce new planting, and install bird and bat boxes as well as sustainable drainage systems.
It aims to support significant bat populations in the adjacent Biss Wood and Green Lane Nature Park, with an ecology visitors centre also planned on-site.
A major component of the scheme is the construction of the Yarnbrook and West Ashton Relief Road, which will serve as an infrastructure upgrade for the region.
Persimmon, a UK housebuilder with 29 offices nationwide, serves under the brands Persimmon Homes, Charles Church, and Westbury Partnerships.
Persimmon Homes and Charles Church’s deputy managing director for Wessex Seb Spiller said: “Our plans at West Ashton are incredibly exciting with major strategic highway improvements, biodiversity enhancements, environmental features, public services investments, affordable housing, and a sense of place all central parts of the scheme.
“Large-scale projects like this not only serve to meet the goals of national and local governments, but they help in alleviating the housing crisis on both levels, generating wider benefits for the local community and economy.”
