SRV has secured a turnkey contract with Patolan Kulma for the construction of a student apartment building in the Oulunkylä district of Helsinki, Finland.

Patolan Kulma is owned by the Häme Students Foundation, the Artti Foundation, the Foundation of Savonian University Students, and the Kymenlaakson Osakunta student nation’s scholarship fund.

The design and construction contract is valued at approximately €10m ($10.71m).

The order will be recorded in SRV’s backlog this month, and the project, which already holds a valid building permit, is commencing its planning phase immediately.

SRV Helsinki Housing senior vice-president Jorma Seppä said: “Winning the competition to become the contractor for this project is an example of SRV’s cost-competitiveness in housing construction in a challenging market environment.

“In addition to our own housing production, we are implementing a variety of other housing projects, such as ARA-funded student housing.”

The development will comprise the construction of a seven-storey apartment building featuring 92 student apartments, commercial premises, and a yard area in Patola.

The building will also include a sauna, clubhouse, ample bicycle storage, and a shared laundry room.

Focusing on modern living standards and adaptability, each floor will feature partition walls to connect apartments as needed.

Construction is expected to commence in late 2024, with completion anticipated in early 2026.

Last month, SRV signed an agreement with Senate Properties for the construction of the Kuopio Main Police Station in the country.

Senate Properties is the client and developer of the project, which is worth approximately €70m.
